Japanese designer Satsuki Ohata has created pieces inspired by cheese fondue, process that became the main influence for the designer’s “fondue stool”. When retrieved, the viscous melt follows, dripping back into the pot. Ohata used a sponge dipped in material to create the stool, inspired directly by the gastronomic process.
A highly absorbent sponge was dipped into liquid, colored PVC then dried with hot air. As the piece dries, gravity and PVC weigh the sponge downwards, molding it until it freezes in a solidified state. After dry, the “fondue stool” is a unique and totally functional object. The design will be presented at Salone Satellite, during Milan Design Week 2015.
